I know that there are limitations, but that just means I'll have to be diligent in checking the compatibility list before making any purchases. Please focus discussion on IOTA investment, trading, and market-related activity. I plan to add more door sensors and other smart home products in the future, and it looks like Abode is updating their compatibility list so that it works with a variety of devices. My experience has been very positive and it's working well for my purposes. I would recommend the Iota to anyone looking for a home DIY security system that will allow configurable automations for arming/disarming, etc.The geofence should be able to be made smaller. The alarm isn't a big deal, as it re-arms when I leave the geofence, but my lock doesn't re-lock itself (my choice in order to avoid the door locking while someone is in the backyard but I'm away). For me, this is too large an area and I have found myself driving by my house (main street is only a block or so away) and the alarm will disarm itself (and also unlock my smart lock - my choice). the available geofence for locations can only go as small as 200m.It would be great to see the app expanded to allow more useful features like turning automations on/off, or adding more widget options to enhance the UI. The app itself doesn't seem to be regularly updated, so it's likely not using the most up to date developer tools available to it. Other apps don't do this, so there must be a way to make it more efficient. The app also drains my phone's battery because of the way it checks for my location. Most functions just direct you to the web interface and even then, I have to view the site in Desktop Mode for it to be useful. the Abode app (Android user) is pretty useless.the smart lock seemed like the best way to do this). I basically just wanted a way for the system to disarm when the door was unlocked and I wasn't home (I have an automation that disarms the system when I get close to home, but I needed a way for it to disarm when parents or inlaws stop by when I'm not home. This is a really simple smart lock and doesn't have per user codes, etc. I've since added a smart lock (Kwikset Convert) and I love the integration with Abode.I know this isn't ideal for some people, but the wifi option is turning out to be a great feature for me. It's also come in handy in that it notifies me when it's lost connection, so I know that there's an issue with my internet at home. love that the Iota has wifi so I can position it more appropriately and I didn't have to buy an extra camera and motion sensor for my house.Setting up automations is a breeze and they work well for me. Note: this is my first home security system and I had very few smart home products when I purchased Abode (just Nest Thermostat and two Nest Protects). Just wanted to give my quick impressions of the Abode Iota system after using it for a couple months. Usernames are OK.ĭo not spam your blog or website.
